Theater Education for Ages 4 - 12th Grade
There’s a place on the stage for every age!
At the heart of our education program is a simple but powerful belief: theater has the ability to change lives. Whether your child is stepping on stage for the first time or is ready to take their training to the next level, our programs are designed to meet them where they are, encourage their growth, and celebrate their unique voice.
From cradle to college, we’ve got something for all ages! Our offerings provide a supportive, creative space for students to explore, take risks, and build confidence. Through games, movement, storytelling, and scene work, students don’t just learn how to perform—they learn how to collaborate, communicate, and express themselves with clarity and joy. Although many of our classes end in a performance, at TRYPS, it’s not about the final bow—it’s about the journey it took to get there.
Every program is a team effort, guided by compassionate teaching artists who are committed to helping each student thrive. Whether your child is dreaming of Broadway or just looking to try something new, there’s a place for them here. We can’t wait to see what your child will discover this season.

Early Childhood Classes

Open to students in grades K-5, students enter the TRYPS space for daily arts programming! Activities include creating mini-plays, doing crafts, playing theater and group games, and supervised free time.
Transportation to TRYPS is currently available to students at Locust, Ridgeway, Fairview, and Paxton Keeley.
Play Day is an all-day theater workshop scheduled on days that Columbia Public Schools are closed. We pick popular themes from books, movies, and television shows and create content in art, acting, and music for the day!
Kids can wear their public appropriate PJs and PLAY the day away with us!
Students are divided into groups by grade level (depending on enrollment) and spend the day rotating between acting, crafts, dance, and other theatre-based activities. Throughout the day, we play games, make craft projects, have a dance party, learn a dance routine, and make a movie.
Camps
One-Week Mini-Play Camps
Campers are split into groups by grade (depending on enrollment)and rotate through a series of classes including acting, dance, music, crafts, and more. In each of their classes they'll learn, rehearse, design, and create components for a 10-15 minute play that will be performed for families on the final day.
Two-Week Production Camps
This summer experience gives campers a chance to rehearse and perform a fully staged musical or play with costumes, scenery, and props from our stock. Every actor will have a moment to shine with these shows written specifically for young actors.
All camp programming runs from 9am-3pm. Drop-off begins at 8:30am at no additional cost. After Care is available Monday-Thursday until 5:30pm for an additional fee.
Additional Camp details will be shared with registered families shortly before camp begins.
TRYPS offers private lessons for students who want to grow their skills with individualized instruction. Each student receives one 30-minute private lesson per week during a 10-week session. Lessons are tailored to each student’s level and goals, helping build confidence and skill at their own pace.
